Where did you get the idea for this book?
The story of Beneath My Mother’s Feet came about from my many travels to
From my very first visit eighteen years ago, I was amazed by the resiliency of the Pakistani children and the strength of their spirit.
I saw families in situations that made it difficult for their children to attend school regularly. Coming from the United States, it was all very new to me.

It’s also about wanting to be normal, going to school, and having friends.
Every dream, even the one tossed aside in the dust of poverty, has the right to find water, has the right to grow roots. In Beneath My Mother's Feet, I tried to do just that ~ honor Nazia's right to pursue her dream.
I hope you enjoy reading about Nazia and her world as much as I did writing about it.
